Anticipation and Preparation
My first plan was to contact the company EVIL Bikes, they are based out of Seattle Washington. I was hoping that I would have been able to work with them at their headquarters on the engineering side of things. After contacting them, and not hearing anything back, I followed up with them and still never heard anything. So I figured that I should reach out to some more bike companies. I reached out to 8 more bike companies, and I heard no from 4 of them and never heard anything back from any of the others. At this point the deadline for having a LINK internship was closing in and I was getting pretty desperate. Thankfully, the husband of one of the nurses at my dad's office said that he can be my mentor. He works at the Purgatory Metro District and I really wasn't sure what that was or what they did there. After talking to him on the phone I had heard words like wastewater and manholes and I was not the most excited to be getting into this. If anything I was hoping that I would at least be able to gain some experience with engineering or real world problem solving. I hope that I will be able to use my creative problem solving skills that I have gained while at animas at the business. And that my willingness to learn new skills will be beneficial to me with getting the ropes of the job easily. Additionally I hope to leave the impression that having an intern at your business can be mutually beneficial.
